Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting with a gentleman about selling his Knoxville area home. The homeowner is a contractor and it is his home that is up for sale. The homeowner took great pride and joy in the construction and built his home using a great product known as "Superior Walls".
So what exactly is a superior wall? While these walls are not that commonly used in the Knoxville TN area (yet), these walls have many benefits including:
- Energy friendly- unfinished basements can account for up to 33% loss in household energy (this particular basement was warm and cozy even though it has high ceilings, concrete floor, is unfinished, and had no heat running to it- outside temp was about 45 degrees). These panels also help eliminate on-site soil contamination, save valuable natural resources, and reduce jobsite waste.
- Reduced Energy Leakage- Superior walls are pre-engineered with built in insulation and high strength concrete.
- Enjoy Lower Energy Bills- without ANY added insulation these walls have an R value of 12.5! If you add insulation between the panels you could increase the R value to over 50!!!
- Have Better Indoor Air Quality- the seamless design and low concrete to water ratio prevents moisture penetration and leads to a dryer basement which can reduce mold and mildew growth. No stinky and damps basments!
Visit the superior walls website for more information
This fine home located in Hardin Valley is currently having a portion of the basement finished out and will be on the market in January and listed at $289,900. If you are interested in finding out more about this fine home contact us at Info@HomesForSaleKnoxville.com

Hi Ladies,
This sure seems like a wonderful product. We are building some super efficient homes here in Diamondhead and hope to have something up on them in a few weeks...but I will definitely share this info with the developer! Thanks.
I have a listing here in Pittsburgh that used them. It's a great product that is great for energy efficiency and warmth. Glad to see they are catching on.
Bill from what I have been told by the contractor, they were very easy to use, qualified for energy efficiency rebates, and also come with a 15 year warranty.
Christa- I too am very glad to see these energy efficient products catching on as well. In Knoxville, TN we currently have low energy costs at just about $.08/kwh. If energy prices went up to what they were in other parts of the country (as I am sure they eventually will) residents without these features may find themselves with very unpleasant energy bills.
Christine & Jennifer , Superior Precast Walls are a great product when properly installed ! The type your referring to are their Xi walls which are R-12.5 & with conventional R-19 Fiberglass installed in the walls you actually get an R value of R-31.5 . In order to acheive higher R values you would need to use some type of blown-in product . Some Superior wall plants also make a R-5 wall product which has P.T. stud facing instead of the metal facing on the walls you've seen . I've installed over 200 of the Superior Wall foundations on my homes & find them to be a great product for most applications . The installation cost savings vary greatly according to block & concrete prices in a given region & usually require a crane for installation . Thank you for making more people aware of these alternative products ! Keepin it Green !
